Phat Friday Photos June 2009
At Oaklands’ youth drop-in program, Phat Friday, teams of kids were given disposable cameras and total freedom to create their own photo shoots. We developed the film, and were enthralled by the clarity with which these grade 5/6s visualized their world: full of colour, abstract angles, unique themes, and energy. Too often we forget simple pleasures and tiny details, consumed instead with worry about our own “big picture.” These images offer children’s perspectives on what is beautiful and interesting, and serve as a glimpse into mindsets that have yet to be jaded by the highs and lows of life. Thank you to Koffi for displaying these photos!
